A metal chatelaine, comprising a perfume bottle concealed within the head of an Egyptian woman (perhaps Aida, the Ethiopian princess who was captured and enslaved in Egypt) and three chains holding a scissors holder, a thimble holder and a needle case holder.

This piece of Egyptomania may have been inspired by the opera Aida, premiered in Cairo in 1871 by Verdi, which enjoyed great international success from the moment of its premiere.
