Wooden snuffbox, the lid featuring a medallion under glass with hair framing a miniature painted in grisaille entitled "Ma reconnoissance sera éternelle" [My gratitude will be eternal] surmounting an altar with the attributes of medicine and inscribed Esculapius (Greek god of medicine).
Signed Woxin (for Joseph Woxin, listed as a “hair painter” in 1789)
Interior and ring in vermeil, French hallmark faisceau licteur (1809-1819)
