The lid features a fixture under glass possibly depicting Mademoiselle George in the play La chambre ardente (drama in 5 acts and 9 tableaux) created by Mélesville and Bayard at the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin in Paris in 1833.

Good condition (small tears)

Mademoiselle George is the pseudonym of French actress Marguerite-Joséphine Weimer (1787 - 1867). She was a member of the Comédie Francaise from 1804 to 1808, then from 1813 to 1817. Her fame was immense.
