Celluloid fan, the fabric leaf is painted with motifs from ancient Egypt.
The sticks are engraved with stylized papyrus, and the guard is painted of the portrait of a pharaoh, probably Tutankhamun.
Good condition (small stains, paint missing on guard).

The discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in November 1922 revived the general public's enthusiasm for ancient Egypt. The craze for this young pharaoh was such that the movement was dubbed Egyptomania, but also more specifically Tutmania.
