Balloon fan, the silk leaf painted with wild flowers
Signed by the artist, J. Blin, and on the reverse by the fan maker, Duvelleroy
Green tinted mother-of-pearl sticks and guards, engraved and gilded with a fern motif. (Work of Bastard ?)
Condition: small stains and tears to the silk, one guard and three sticks restored
Size : 21.5 cm to guard (max 26 cm)

Variations of this fan are known, both in the composition of the leaf and in the material and motif of the sticks and guards. In particular, two "Summertime" fans by Blin are preserved at the Fan Museum (A garden of fans, Greenwich, The Fan Museum, 2004, p. 82-85), as is a "Panier" fan presented at the exhibition L'éventail, Matière d'excellence at the Musée de la Nacre et de la Tabletterie (G. Letourmy-Bordier & S. Le Guen, L'éventail, Matières d'excellence, Méru , p. 63).
