Advertising fan for the restaurant Chez Marianne, 72 Boulevard de Clichy, Paris
The printed paper sheet is based on a humorous illustration captioned Du bon pinard ou la mort [Good wine or death], in which a revolutionary carrying the head of an aristocrat (Louis XVI?) on a spike (to which a cabaret dancer is toasting) shakes hands with a modern bourgeois republican.
Signed by Joë Bridge (pseudonym of the artist, lyricist, illustrator, poster artist, publicist... Jean Barrez, 1886-1967).
On the reverse, several autographs from artistic celebrities of the time attesting to the fact that one is well treated at Marianne's, such as Mistinguett, Charlie Chaplin, Maurice Chevalier, Paul Poiret, Romain Coolus, Fratellini, Charles Fallot, Marthe Chenal, Jean Camille Bellaigue, Augustine Leriche, Pierre Benoit, etc.
Good condition (small tears).

The restaurant Chez Marianne opened in 1922. The interior was decorated by Guy Arnoux and the establishment displayed souvenirs of the French Revolution (autographs and manuscripts) and presented itself as the “Rendez-vous of the world of Arts, Letters and Theater.”
