Fan, the delicate skin leaf painted featuring a reproduction of François Lemoyne's painting Louis XV Offering Peace to Europe (created in 1729 and kept at the Palace of Versailles in the Peace Room).
In the centre, the young King Louis XV is seen offering an olive branch, symbol of peace, to the personification of Europe. To his right, his newborn twins Elisabeth and Henriette are presented by Fertility and Piety. Behind him, Mercury, on Minerva's orders, closes the doors of the Temple of War.
Very beautiful stiks and guards in carved white mother-of-pearl, pierced, engraved, burgauted and applied with gold and silver leaf.
Good condition (discreet old restorations to the guards).
