Small fan, thin leather leaf painted on one side with Piazza del Popolo in Rome, featuring the Basilica of Santa Maria in Montesanto and the Church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli, framed by motifs reminiscent of the frescoes of Pompeii and Herculaneum, and on the reverse side a view of a smoking volcano, possibly Vesuvius from Pompeii.
Wooden sticks and guards. Guards encrusted with a net of steel beads.
Good condition (small tears and weaknesses in the leaf).
H: 16.5 cm.
With a case (as is) from Irlande Lemaire at the Palais Royal in Paris.
