Delicate fan, the silk leaf richly embroidered with multicolored silk threads, silver sequins, and silver thread, painted with Jupiter pursuing Callisto.
Callisto, daughter of the king of Arcadia, is one of the followers of Diana, goddess of the hunt, whose companions must remain chaste and pure. The nymph's great beauty attracted the lust of Jupiter, who took on the appearance of Diana in order to surprise and possess her.
Pierced sticks and guards, engraved and applied with gold and silver leaf and inlaid with steel sequins.
