A striking fan, made of canivet (papercutting) paper, gold on one side and blue on the other, featuring Gothic-style cutouts and engraved and painted vignettes on one side depicting women and allegories of love and fidelity, and on the other side symbols of the Republic (a radiant sun, fraternity and a Phrygian cap).
Perhaps an evocation of the nascent Second Republic.

Condition: small tears and incomplete.
