Wooden fan, the paper leaf is printed (intaglio engraved) of the Caracteres de los Naturales de las provincias Espanolas [Characters of the natives of the Spanish provinces] illustrating costumes and describing the customs of the people according to their origins.
On one side is a gallery of portraits in costume: Labrador de Vizcaya, Labrador de Galicia, Maja de Cadiz, Curro de Cadiz, Arriero de Castilla la Vieja, Labrador de Reus de Catalona, and on the other a description in Spanish of their temperament.

The engravings are taken from Colección general de trages que en la actualidad se usan en España, principiada en el año 1801 [General Collection of Trages that are currently used in Spain, beginning of the year 1801] by painter, caricaturist and engraver Antonio Rodriguez (1765-1823).
