Fan, the skin leaf painted on one side with a passage from the Bible: Delilah taking advantage of her lover Samson's sleep to cut off his hair and thus deprive him of his divine strength, leaving him defenseless to his enemies.
On the reverse, the legend of William Tell: the hero who failed to greet Hermann Gesller, representing the Habsburg imperial authority in Switzerland around 1300, is condemned to shoot a crossbow bolt into an apple placed on the head of his son, Walter.
Mother-of-pearl sticks and guards pierced and inlaid with steel sequins.
Condition: missing sequins, one guard restored, small tears and stains.
