Mention is made at the end of the Almanach illustré de l'Alliance franco-russe by MM. Eug. Mourot et Léon Hayard, published in Paris by Hayard in 1898, of the other titles published by Montmartre publisher Léon Hayat (nicknamed the “éditeur des camelots” [publisher of camelots]). Among the “essential works for young girls and boys [...] to have fun and learn” was a small, topical brochure priced at 0.50 franc, entitled La manière de se tirer les Cartes soi-même ou le Sorcier fin de siècle [The way to draw your own Cards or the fin de siècle Sorcerer. ]
