Wooden fan, the paper leaf is printed and painted with Joseph Balsamo called Comte de Cagliostro and his wife Séraphine Feliciani.

Giuseppe Balsamo (1743-1795), known under several identities, the most famous of which is that of the Count of Cagliostro, is a colorful character, leading a life of international adventure with his wife. He calls himself a magus and offers his "para-masonic sciences" and thaumaturgical remedies to the European society . Several times incarcerated for fraud and heresy, he died in 1795, one year after his wife, in the prison of the fortress of San Leo in Italy.
